Eligibility Criteria (As on July 1, 2024)

Nationality/Citizenship

Candidates must be either:

  1. A Citizen of India
  2. A subject of Nepal
  3. A subject of Bhutan
  4. A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
  5. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

Note: For categories 2, 3, 4 & 5, a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India is required.

Age Limit

  • Minimum: 20 years
  • Maximum: 28 years (as on July 1, 2024)
  • Candidates must have been born between July 2, 1996, and July 1, 2004 (both dates inclusive)

Age Relaxation for Various Categories

  1. Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST): 5 years
  2. Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy layer) (OBC-NCL): 3 years
  3. Persons With Benchmark Disability (PwBD):
  • SC/ST: 15 years
  • OBC: 13 years
  • UR/EWS: 10 years
  1. Widows, divorced women and women legally separated from their husbands who have not remarried:

Educational Qualification

  • Graduate degree from a recognized University/Institute approved by the Government of India or its regulatory bodies
  • The result of the qualification must have been declared on or before July 1, 2024
  • Candidates must produce Mark Sheets and Provisional/Degree Certificates issued from the University/Institute/College as and when required by the Bank

Language Proficiency

Candidates applying for training seats in a particular state should be proficient (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding) in any one of the local languages of that state. A language test will be conducted as part of the selection process.

Note: Candidates who have studied the local language in 10th or 12th standard and can produce mark sheets/certificates as evidence are exempt from the language test.

Terms of Engagement

Duration of Training

One year from the date of contract

Stipend

  • Monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000/- (including subsidy amount, if any, by the Government of India)
  • UCO Bank will pay Rs. 10,500/- into the apprentice’s account monthly
  • Government share of Rs. 4,500/- will be directly credited to the apprentice’s bank account through DBT mode

Training Hours

As applicable to the clerical staff of the Bank

Eligibility Restrictions

  • Candidates should not have undergone apprenticeship earlier with UCO Bank or any other organization
  • Candidates with training or job experience of one year or more after completing educational qualifications are not eligible

Status of Apprentices

  • Apprentices are trainees and not considered workers or employees of the Bank
  • Provisions of labor laws do not apply to apprentices
  • No entitlement to benefits available for Bank employees

Post-Training Employment

  • No right to claim employment in the Bank after completion of training
  • Bank has no obligation to offer regular employment during or after the apprenticeship period

Selection Process

Initial Screening

The Bank will examine whether candidates fulfill the required eligibility criteria

Written Test (if applicable)

  • In case of a high volume of applications, the Bank may conduct a written test
  • Details of the written test will be communicated on the Bank’s website
  • Candidates must register for the written test to participate

Personal Interview

  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview
  • Minimum qualifying marks will be as decided by the Bank (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates)

Merit List

  • State-wise and category-wise merit lists will be drawn based on interview/written test marks
  • In case of tie, candidates will be ranked according to their age in descending order

Medical Fitness
